Weft โ€” Privacy Policy

Last updated 22 August 2026

Weft is a clipboard history utility for macOS. It records what you copy so you can paste it again later. This policy explains what it stores, where that lives, and who can see it.

What Weft stores

Weft keeps a history of items you copy to your clipboard. Depending on what you copied, an entry can include:

Weft records only what passes through your clipboard. It does not read documents, monitor your screen, log your keystrokes, or inspect other applications.

What Weft deliberately ignores

macOS lets an application mark what it copies as concealed. Password managers and one-time-code fields commonly do this. Weft honours that marker and never records those items. It also skips clipboard content marked as transient or automatically generated.

This depends on the other application setting the marker correctly. Weft cannot detect sensitive content that isn't labelled as such, so anything you copy that isn't marked will be recorded like any other clip.

Where it lives

Your clipboard history is stored on your own device, inside Weft's sandbox container. Weft runs under the macOS App Sandbox, so that data is not readable by other applications.

Sync

Weft can sync your clipboard history between your own devices so a clip copied on one is available on the others. When sync is enabled, the contents of your history are transmitted and stored in order to deliver them to your other devices. Sync moves your data between devices you control; it is not used to build a profile of you, and your clipboard contents are never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

What is never collected

Your control

The history is yours. Removing the app removes its local store along with it. If you would like a copy of, or the deletion of, anything associated with your use of Weft, open an issue and we will action it.

Children

Weft is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
